Vietnam visa requirements for Taiwanese citizens

To enter Vietnam for certain days for whatever purposes, Taiwanese visitors have to apply for a visa. In addition to submitting application at embassy, citizens of Taiwan can apply online for travel authorization (called “visa approval” in Vietnam) via travel agencies to qualify for visa on arrival at airport. Vietnam visa requirements for Taiwanese citizens are various between traditional visa and on-arrival visa so be sure you will read instructions below carefully before starting application.

Visa procedure at embassy

The process of getting traditional visa from embassy is straightforward. You submit documents required, pay processing fee and come back to receive the passport (with visa attached).

Requirements:

•  Original passport: should have at least 6 months validity remaining
•  Application form: must be completed fully and correctly. The form is available at embassy’s office
•  01 passport 

In some cases, supporting documents may be requested such as visa approval, flight ticket, hotel reservation.

Charges:

Vietnam visa fees are determined by visa category, length of stay and number of visit. It costs at least $67 for single entry tourist visa, 1 month. Please contact with consular section to check the correct fee.

Processing time:

Regularly, the visa is issued within 3-5 business days (excluding weekends and national holidays) since receipt of complete application. Be sure to check visa for errors after you collect it. Any error must be notified to embassy as soon as possible for correction.

Visa on arrival procedure

Note: visa on arrival program is only applicable for arrivals by air. For Taiwanese citizens crossing overland into Vietnam, the visa must be already obtained when you reach the border.

Apply online for visa approval  

Step 1: Fill out visa application form online with your personal and travel information (full name, date of birth, passport number, intended travel date, type of visa…)

Step 2: Use credit or debit card to pay processing fee. After payment, a confirmation email will be sent to you aiming to inform the date you are expected to receive the approval.

If you use standard service, the approval is delivered within 2 business days around 6:00 pm (Vietnam time). For fast track service, the processing time may be 1 hour or 24 hours. Read Urgent Vietnam visa on arrival for details.

Once you have obtained visa approval, bring it to airport and be ready for:

Pick up visa upon arrival

With the approval, you are able to collect the visa at any Vietnam’s airports (Hanoi, Danang, Ho Chi Minh).  Here are steps you should follow to be granted the visa:

Step 1: Proceed to Landing visa counter and transfer your original passport, letter of visa approval, completed entry-exit form, 01 passport size photo.

Step 2: Wait while the immigration officer processes the visa. When the processing is done, your name will be called and your passport will be held up to the window with photo page showing.

Step 3: Pay stamping fee: $45 for single visa valid for 1 month or 3 months, $65 for 1 month multiple visa, $95 for 3 months multiple visa.  To avoid payment problems, you should prepare the fee in USD in form of cash.

Step 4: Collect the visa with a payment receipt. Check for accuracy of the visa before you leave the window.
