Vietnam visa requirements for German passport holders

The German citizens should apply for Vietnamese visa as far in advance of your intended date of travel as possible in 2 following ways:

1. Apply online

Note: Online visa application is only available for German visitors who travel to Vietnam by air.

How long does the process take?

The process requires 2 business days (normal service), 1 business day (urgent service) or a few hours (super-urgent service) to complete. When the process is done, you will receive a visa approval letter and entry & exit form via email.

What should I do with the visa approval letter?

You will use the letter for boarding plane. When arriving at Vietnam’s airport, show it again along with your passport, completed entry & exit form, 01 passport photo and stamping fee to get a visa stamp from Immigration Officer/

2. Apply at the embassy

If you travel to Vietnam by land or sea and unable to apply for the visa online, follow steps below to obtain a visa at Embassy of Vietnam in Germany:

Step 1: Submit the documents below at the embassy

-   Original passport valid beyond your date of exit from Vietnam

-   Completed visa application form (download on website of embassy)

-   01 passport photo

-   Self-addressed prepaid return envelope if you apply by post

-   Vietnam visa fee

Note: the documents can be submitted in person or sent by post

Step 2: Wait 3-5 business days to collect your visa Vietnam from embassy. Don’t forget to check for error on the visa cause you are responsible for its accuracy. Any errors must be reported to the embassy before your trip.
