Visa on arrival for British citizens

The holders of British passport are permitted to visit Vietnam for 15 days without a visa for whatever purpose. A stay of longer than 15 days will require an entry visa. The foremost thing to note is visa on arrival is only valid at airports. The entry visa for land borders and seaports should be obtained directly at Vietnam embassy in Great Britan or through the webpage of Vietnam government.

Requirements to be granted a visa on arrival include:

· An origin passport with a minimum validity of 6 months

· A passport-sized photo against a white background

· An entry/exit form (download here)

· Visa approval (the process of getting the approval will be described in the following part)

· Stamping fee (payable by cash, USD or VND)

Obtain Vietnam visa approval

Step 1. Fill out an application form online. (Watch video on how to complete the form correctly). Check over the information to avoid mistakes before submitting it.

Step 2. Make payment online with a credit or debit card. Bank transfer or Western Union is also accepted.

Step 3. Receive the visa approval letter in your email after 2-3 working days or on the same day (if you request Vietnam rush visa service). 

The visa letter is accepted at every Vietnamese international airport so you can book the flight after the letter is granted. The best time to apply for the visa letter is 1-2 month(s) prior to the trip.

As of July 1st, 2020 foreign tourists to Vietnam can stay for only 30 days at a time no matter how long the visa is valid. In order to stay longer, the tourists must apply for an extension.
