Validity of Vietnam visa on arrival

Vietnam visa validity is the length of time from the expected date of travel indicated in the application form until the visa expires. Visa for Vietnam can be valid from 1 month up to 1 year depending on each category and passport issuing country. 

a. Vietnam tourist visa

Vietnam tourist visa is issued to foreigners entering Vietnam for tourism-related activities. It can be valid for up to 1 year (for US citizens) or 3 months (for non-US citizens). A tourist electronic visa is valid for only 1 month. Since 1st July 2020, the maximum authorized stay for a tourist on each visit is 30 days. To stay longer, the tourist must apply for an extension.

b. Vietnam business visa

Similar to the tourist visa, a business visa remains valid for 3 months. The holders of US passport can get a 1-year business visa. The visa holders are allowed to stay in Vietnam for as long as they want until the visa end date.

c. Vietnam family visa

A family visa has a validity of 12 months and is granted to a spouse and child of those who have a work visa, investor visa, student visa, media visa, diplomatic visa. A standard application includes a passport and visa of the migrant, proof of family status of the applicant, business license or certificate of investment registration, certificate of stamp registration. Processing time:5 working days.

d. Investor visa

An investor visa is valid from 1 year to 5 years depending on how big your investment is. In order to get an investor visa, you must have an investment registration certificate, business license, certificate of stamp registration, form NA5, NA16. Processing time takes 5-7 business days.

e. Student visa

Student visa has 12-month validity that is granted to those who study in Vietnam-based schools. Requirements to get a student visa includes a letter of enrolment, tuition fee invoice, form NA5 for visa issuance, school license permit. Procesing time: 7 working days.
