Common mistakes of Vietnam visa application
Vietnam visa on arrival facility is the easiest and most secure way to get visa for Vietnam. That said, some foreigners still had a painful experience with it because they forgot to “read instructions carefully before using”. The following are some notices that you should keep in mind to have a smooth Vietnam visa on arrival process:
1. Wrong input
Filling out the Vietnam visa application form is a piece of cake but it could be a trap if you do not pay enough attention to it. Many people just enter their first name and last name while the form requires a FULL NAME, which means it must include your middle name (if you have a middle name). Besides, the date format used in the form is mm/dd/yyyy, NOT dd/mm/yyyy. It is best to check over the information before submitting the form to make sure you will not put yourself into trouble. Watch instructions on how to fill out the Vietnam visa on arrival application form correctly.
2. No email checking
Shortly after the application form is submitted, the applicants will receive an email confirmation requesting you to review the information provided. Please read the email carefully to make sure that there is no error in your visa application form. If you catch any mistake, notify us right away to fix it. We can not cancel or change anything in the application once it was sent to the Vietnam Immigration Department for processing. Consequently, you have to pay for a new visa to Vietnam.
3. Date of arrival
The visa on arrival becomes effective from the date of arrival provided in the application, not from the actual date you visit Vietnam. Be sure your travel falls in the period of visa validity and check the end date of the visa to avoid overstaying.
4. Not get a pre-approval letter
This is the biggest misunderstanding. The approval letter is a "ticket" for you to get the visa stamp at the arrival airport. Without the approval letter, you will have no chance to board the plane at the departure airport. Therefore, don't forget to apply for the letter well in advance of the trip. It takes only 2-3 working days to get it granted. Read more about Vietnam visa on arrival process at this page.
