Vietnamese cuisine in the eyes of foreign tourists

Among nations and territories in Asia, Vietnam is considered as one of the countries which has the most varied and seductive cuisines. It is not out of reach to make Vietnamese cuisine become national tourism trademark.

There is one thing for sure that Vietnamese cuisine always has a strong attraction to anyone traveling to the S-shaped country. In addition to beautiful landscapes and long-time cultural tradition, Vietnam allures foreign tourists with delicious food of 3 regions: the North, the Central Highlands and the South. Each of which has its own climate, culture and food traditions but a common character. That is fantastic flavor. That is reason why a lot of foreign tourists like Vietnamese food, from the cheap street food at sidewalk stalls to expensive food served in luxury restaurants.

In 2012, 12 out of 15 famous dishes nominated by Vietnam Record Organization set Asian Record for their gastronomic importance to the region. They include: Pho (noodle served with beef and chicken), Bun cha (rice noodle served with grilled pork) and Bun Thang (Thang noodle) from Hanoi; Goi Cuon (spring rolls) and Com tam (broken rice) from Saigon; Banh da cua (crab noodle) from Haiphong; Com chay (crispy rice cracker) from Ninh Binh; Mien luon (eel cassava vermicelli) from Nghe An; Bun Bo Hue (Hue spicy beef noodle soup); Mi Quang (Quang noodle); Pho kho Gia Lai (Gia Lai dry noodle); Banh Khot (small shrimp fried pancake) from Vung Tau.

Rice with grilled pork chop, grilled chestnut, sweetened porridge, porridge, vermicelli with fried tofu, hotpot, baguette… and plenty of other Vietnamese dishes have received good reviews from CNN’s correspondent.
“I am impressed with pho in your country. I heard a lot about it before but only when tasting it, did I fully realize it is a delicious dish”. said Maria, a foreign tourist.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam-Japan, a Japanese citizen said: “I know about Vietnam through its cuisine. Some friends and I  will go to Vietnam to visit your country as well as enjoying delicious food in the near future”.

The good feedback from international reporters and tourists show the attraction of Vietnamese cuisine to anyone who has already been to Vietnam. Vietnamese food has won over many visitors.
