According Global Peace Index 2013 released by Institution for Economics and Peace whose headquarters in Australia, Vietnam is ranked 41st place out of 162 measured countries and the 4th of ASEAN countries as the world’s most peaceful countries.
While, according to Vietnam News Agency, Singapore, Japan and Bhutan are 3 Asian countries listed in top 20 most peaceful countries in the world.
In the latest survey, Singapore leads Southeast countries and ranks 16th position among 162 countries. This is a big move of Lion City when moving up 7 places in the global rankings in comparison with last year.
Mr. Baey Yam Keng, Member of Parliament of Singapore said GPI ranking raised prestige of Singapore on International arena and featured Singapore as a very safe country. He also expressed his hope that Singapore still remains this position in the following years.
GPI was determined on basic of 23 elements, from the expenditures for national defense to relation with neighboring countries and crime rate. This index is used by many international organizations, governmental and non-governmental organizations.
