ASEAN Statistics of General Statistics Office has delivered a press release that Vietnam’s tourism industry had a rapid development during last decade with average growth of 9.8%/per year.
Accordingly, there are some differences in choosing Vietnam as a destination between tourist groups. About 88% visitors in Vietnam come from countries outside Southeast Asian region. Meanwhile, visitors from ASEAN countries account only 12%.
The press release also stated that Vietnam is the 4th option of international tourists, behind Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia.
Positive results of Vietnam’s tourism industry are due to advantages such as abundant natural landscapes, cultural diversity, security and attractive price. However, Vietnam will need a lot of effort and time to be able to shorten the gap of tourism development with countries in the region and to make Vietnam tourism become a key economic industry.
