On November 25th 2019, the Vietnamese National Assembly XIV officially passed the revised law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners. One of the highlights of the revision is the eligibility of changing visa category applicable to the following cases:
Those who are investors or representatives of a foreign organization in Vietnam: The family members of these individuals will also enjoy this privilege.
Those who enter Vietnam under invitation or sponsorship of a company in Vietnam; Foreigners who enter the country on E-visa, work permit or work permit exemption confirmation.
The law will come into effect on the 1st of July next year, allowing visitors to apply to change their visa category during their stay in Vietnam. It is designed to prevent foreign tourists from switching visa and to create favourable conditions for qualified visitors to study Vietnam’s markets, look for business opportunities, minimise time and expenses on immigration procedures.
