Traditional craft village festival in Hanoi

To celebrate 59th anniversary of capital city’s Liberation Day, the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized Festival on traditional craft villages in Hanoi and Red River Delta 2013 with the theme “Convergence of Quintessence from traditional craft villages” taking place from 9th to 12th October 2013 at Quan Ngua Sport Palace. This is also an important event of the program National Tourism Year – Red River Delta 2013.

Board of Organization said that the exhibition was set up on a large scale dividing into 5 sections for craft village exhibition, tourism companies, airlines, cuisine fair, and an area for art performance and folk games.

The space of festival features rustic characteristics of Vietnamese villages. The welcome gate was set up with bamboo based on model of village’s gate in Hanoi. The stage for opening and closing ceremonies was designed to look like craft villages and craft streets.

The opening ceremony will officially take place at 9 am on 9th October 2013 with special activities such as dragon dance, ancestral worship ceremonies of handicraft villages such as Bat Trang traditional pottery-making village, Son Dong fine arts village, Ngu Hiep basket knitting village, Chau Khe jewelry village, Van Phuc silk village , Le Mat snake ……

In addition, there are many activities held during the festival such as talk show about “situation and solution for development of traditional craft villages and street in Hanoi”, skill demonstration of artisans. Particularly, visitors will have opportunity to enjoy special art cultural programs or take part in attractive folk games, the programs introducing local tourism products, promotion offers and city tour programs…
The festival is held with hope of contributing to conserve, honor traditional craft villages in Hanoi and other provinces in Red River Delta, thereby promoting tourism sector of Hanoi in particular and the country in general.
