Tips for Quang Ngai travel

The charming beaches, immense salt fields, poetic Tra river, spectacular Thien An mountain are what you can find in Quang Ngai.

Tourist destination

Two not to be missed landscapes in Quang Ngai is Tra Khuc river, the largest river of the province and Thien An mountain, which is considered as “de nhat phong canh” (the most beautiful landscape) of the province with beautiful name “Thien An niem ha” (sun seal on the river).

Tra Khuc river attracts tourists with poetic peaceful beauty of a gentle snaking river. Thien An mountain is really an interesting trip and opportunity to explore “sugar-cane land” with imposing Thach Bich row, sparkling Cua Dai beach, Long Dau mountain with meandering dragon-body, Thien But mountain with beautiful name “Thien But phe van”, Tra Khuc bridge, Tra Khuc river outstanding among white sands. In addition, traveling to Thien an, tourists will have chance to admire the pagoda on the mountain, drink a gulp of water in Tien well or visit the tomb of famous writer Huynh Thuc Khang.

Beach tourism of Quang Ngai includes fascinating pristine beaches such as My Khe, Dung Quat, Khe Hai, Minh Tan, Duc Tan, Sa Huynh Ly Son… Of which, two popular names are Sa Huynh with bustle of the fish wharfs, long-stretching salt fields, majestic  Chau Me rapid, peaceful Monkey island, two dishes for king only: Mam nhum and Huynh De crabs. And Ly Son is impressive with volcano, magnificent lava rock walls combines with the blue of the sky and immense garlic fields.

Archaeological tourism consists of Sa Huynh archaeological vestige, one of three ancient cradles of civilization in Vietnam.  The most prominent of the “Sa Huynh culture” is Con Rang, mysterious tomb of jars with many jars in various shapes containing charcoal; or “post-Neolithic age in  Na Nieu archaeological site.

Historical tourism is divided into 2 groups. They are group of ancient citadels and war vestiges. The goup of ancient citadels consists of Quang Ngai, Chau Sa citadels, system of Co Luy defense citadels, Ban Co Citadel… Prominent among this complex is Quang Ngai citadel or also known as Cam Thanh  (Thanh Gam) was built in vauban architectural style and Chau Sa citadel, the only ancient soil citadel of Champa found so far.

The group of war vestiges includes destinations such as Son My historical relics, where records the cruel crimes of U.S. imperialists on 16 March 1968; national relics on Binh Hoa massacre caused by Korean soldiers in 1966. Dam Toai tunnel, where U.S soldiers set up bomb to kill 66 wounded and sick soldiers, doctors, nurses, and people on 9 September 1965. Ba To relics records 9 marks of uprising of Ba To and the first volutionary government of the province.

Transport

Public transport

You can go to Quang Ngai by bus, by train from all over the province. In case your transport is plane, you are advised to go to Chu Lai airport in Danang and then catch a taxi or bus to reach Quang Ngai. Do not forget to consult schedules, fares, destinations to have a best plan for your travel.

Personal transport

If the distance from the departure position to Quang Ngai is approximately 300km, you could travel by motorbike or bus. Conversely, if longer distance, you should use public transport for safety and health.

When to go?

You can travel to Quang Ngai any time in the year. However, you should watch weather forecast for sure.

Accommodation

Quang Ngai’s centre area includes the routes Quang Trung, Hung Vuong, Tran Hung Dao,… You should rely on your sightseeing schedule to choose the convenient location.
