Packing for a trip is important. Forget an essential item and you may pay big bucks to buy another one in your destination. Pack too much and you are burdened with heavy bags, and shell out too much money for airline baggage fees. It seems that girls often get difficulties with packing their suitcase so we would like to share some tips to help you pack smart and travel happier:
Before packing the suitcase, make a list of what you think you might need for the trip and spread out and ask yourself “Will I really need it? Can I buy or borrow it on the destination?” And pick up what you know you will use and can’t live without it.
Your clothes
Packing multi-purpose clothing will help you cut back on the number of clothes. Picking up more tops than bottoms and categorizing them in groups so that you could find what you need easier. A tip to keep your clothes well organized and save more suitcase space is tightly rolling clothes. However, for stiff fabrics, it’s better to fold.
Your shoes
Shoes are the hardest item to pack because they take up the most space. 3 pairs are a reasonable average. Don’t bring more, even for long trips. One casual sandal or loafer, sneakers, and a neutral evening shoe will often suffice. Don’t leave your shoe packing until the last minute. Select your shoes first so you can estimate how much space left in your suitcase.
Your Breakables
You go on holiday and find the most perfect little souvenir, at just the right price. Now you wonder how to keep them safe on the way home? Here’s a simple tip. Wrap the fragile or breakable item in thickest clothing or a towel and place them in the centre of your suitcase so that it is cushioned by all of your clothes and items.
Your valuables
Don’t pack valuables. Bags can get lost and your valuable item can be stolen from checked luggage. If you have to bring valuables, wear them or put in a carry-on bag to reduce the risk of loss or theft.
Your beauty products
To save on space, opt for travel-size multi-purpose beauty products and keep similar items together. Don’t mix your makeup with your shampoo or your moisturizer with a toothbrush. You can pack everything else in the suitcase but leave daily essentials in your carry-on bag so that you could freshen up whenever you want such as mascara, concealer, lip balm, gloss. Packing beauty products for a flight can be a tricky task because of the Transportation Security Administration’s regulations. The solution is to follow the 3-1-1 rule, which means:
3. Liquids brought onto the aeroplane must be contained in 3.4 oz or fewer bottles
1. All liquids must be placed in a clear, quart-size zip-top bag
1. Only one bag is allowed per passenger.
