With nearly 34 m high, Maitreya Buddha statue on Cam mountain (An Giang) has just been recognized as the biggest Buddha statute in Asia by Asia Book of Records.

In the morning of 29 May, An Giang people’s committee and Asia Book of Records announced Maitreya Buddha statue on the peak of Cam mountain as the biggest “on-mountain-statute” of Asia. The statue is of Phat Lon pagoda which stands on the highest and most spectacular mountain of mysterious That Son land.
Statue is 33.6 m high with plinth area of 27 x 27m and surrounding area of 2.2 ha. The statue give a specific descriptions of jolly, magnanimous and merciful smile of Maitreya Buddha.
Wherever you stay at Cam mountain peak, you could see the big white Maitreya Buddha statue seating solemnly in open green space.
The statue is built by 60 workers for nearly 2 years
The Statue’s location provides a great view of yellow paddy fields in harvest time.
The path to Cam mountain is rather crooked and dangerous.
