Located at the gateway of the northeast, over 10 km from Sapa city’s center, Ta Phin is an attractive destination for domestic and foreign visitors. The village has much potential to develop different kinds of tourism such as historical-cultural tourism, community tourism and eco-tourism.
Coming to Ta Phin, the first thing that tour guides definitely introduce to tourists is historical relics and unique architectures. If Sapa features the tranquility of the church with snowy pointed roof, Ta Phien is impressive with imposing ancient monastery built since October 1942 in the forest. At present, the still retains its own cultural values and specific unique architecture.
In recent years, Ta Phin becomes more attractive to the tourists in comparison with previous years because it is famous for many traditional handicrafts. First of all is herb medicine process of Red Dao ethnic minority. Thanks to experience of using herbs for healing for a long time, Red Dao people have exclusive ancestral remedies. Of which, there is a remedy for postpartum women as an anti-inflammatory and health recovery. Currently, there are many households in Ta Phan providing service of herb-leave bath that draws a lot of tourists. This unique service helps the locals gradually develop economy, improve income. The commune also has Local Products Joint Stock Company contributed by more than 40 households that specializing in producing bath powders of Red Dao ethnic. The product is more and more well-known by national and international tourists.
Besides medicine development, Ta Phin residents also preserve and develop brocade trade to serve the tourists. Some tourists said that they were very interested in looking the young women embroider on the rocks at road side. This offered them interesting feelings about people and daily activities in Northwest mountain region. Brocade embroidering is not a traditional handicraft but also cultural feature of the ethnic minority. Simultaneously, it is also an effective tourism business of Ta Phin people. More than 200 girls of Mong and Dao ethnic minorities participated in brocade club in order to improve income.
In spite of not having Bac waterfall, May bridge, Ham Rong or Cat Cat, the nature in Ta Phin is very enjoyable. Trekking along the meandering trail leading to the mountains, the tourists will se the caves with stalactites in various shapes.
With primitive nature, fresh cool air, warm and friendly residents, Ta Phin is offering more and more types of tourism to attract tourists. At weekend, many travel groups come to Ta Phin to attend home-stay trip at the residence of Mong and Dao ethnic minorities.
