Southern Fruit Festival 2013

 

From 01st June to 12th June 2013, Ho Chi Minh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate with city’s Tourism Association to organize South Fruit Festival 2013 at Suoi Tien Park.

This annual event aims to reflect and honor the achievements in agriculture of the south region in particular and Vietnam in general. This is also the occasion to turn Southern Fruit Festival into a unique tourism cultural activity which introduces the image of Ho Chi Minh to foreign and domestic tourists and makes Southern Fruit Festival become an international cultural exchange activity with ASEAN countries.

In this event, visitors not only have chance to enjoy wide variety of fruits but also take part in interesting activities. In particular, Fruit market and products of craft villages draws the participation of units, gardens from 21 provinces in South region and neighbouring regions with 50 stalls that display and sell local speciality fruits to visitors with special price such as Royal Nam Roi Vinh Long grapefruits, Long An blue dragon fruits, Luc Ngan lychees, Cai Mon Ben Tre durians, Sa Dec cainitoes, Binh Phuoc papayas, Lai Theu mangosteens, Sa Pa peaché, Lang Son plums, Xuong Tien Giang Longans, Hoa Loc sweet mangos.

Southern Fruit Festival 2013 will introduce new kinds of fruits from provinces in South region such as: Vinh Hao grapes, Vinh Kim Tien Giang honey oranges, Vinh Kim Tien Giang seedless guavas, Dang Van Ro green-skin grape fruit, Hoang Kim melon from Song Hau farm, Vacdona Long Thanh red jack fruits…

Besides, the festival has the 4th Southern safe and delicious fruit contest; opening ceremony and fruit parade, fruit-depicting graphic arts, fruit cuisine. In opening week, many cultural activities will be held including folk games , sports and art programs like ethnic dances, art performances with the participation of foreign troupes.
