Quang Ninh is the home to many beautiful islands and Quan Lan island is one of those.
The population on island is about 5,000 inhabitants who mainly earn living by catching fish and doing tourism business. The main vehicle in Quan Lan is three-wheel motorbike (tuk tuk) of 8 passenger capacity.
Quan Lan island is currently not connected to the national grid and local people must use diesel generators to produce electricity. Price for electricity costs VND 18,000/ per kilowatt-hour. Thus, hotels only provide air condition from 6 pm to 6 am .
There are two 3-star hotels and many guesthouses operated by locals on islands. Quan Lan owns many fascinating natural beaches such as Quan Lan, Son Hao and Minh Chau
Quan Lan also has an appealing long-time vestige complex such as pagodas, temples, shrines and particularly Quan Lan ancient communal house built in post- Le dynasty. This is the only temple in Vietnam worshiping Ly Anh Tong emperor-who founded Van Don in 1149 and General Tran Khanh Du who defended Van Don.
In addition, tourists could visit Van Don old trading port. This is ancient trading port and also the first sea port of Vietnam.
Cuisines in Quan Lan island is rather rich. There is a wide range of dishes for you such as Stir-fried holothurian, steamed fresh cuttle, steamed garrupa, grilled snout otter clam and various kinds of sea snails (oc in Vietnam) such as oc gai, oc da… The average price for a meal costs VND 100,000/person.
