Postpone UNESCO Viet Nam-ASEAN Heritage Festival

The Organizing Board of Lam Dong Tourism and Culture Week 2013 has sent a document to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to propose a delay of the first UNESCO Viet Nam-ASEAN Heritage Festival to another time more appropriate.

As schedule, the first UNESCO Viet Nam-ASEAN Heritage Festival is one four significant events of “Tourism and Culture Week 2013” in Da Lat City (Lam Dong province) from December 27 to 31, 2013.

The UNESCO Viet Nam-ASEAN Heritage Festival is held to honour and advertise internationally and regionally Vietnam’s Heritages which were recognized or under consideration by UNESCO, organizing forums to exchange and share experiences between Vietnam, ASEAN countries and international partners in the preservation and sustainable development of UNESCO heritage sites, strengthening good relation between Vietnam, ASEAN countries and partners at the same time.

However, the UNESCO Viet Nam-ASEAN Heritage Festival was postponed because not many countries attending the festival, some relevant contents were also removed from the event.

According to provincial People committee of Lam Dong, the delay is to have better preparation, ensure the full participation of countries in ASEAN community, international partners and domestic locals so that the UNESCO Viet Nam-ASEAN Heritage Festival may have its true scale and meaning.

Therefore, there are 3 important events in the framework of “Tourism and Culture Week 2013”: announcement of the National Tourism Year of Central Highlands – Da Lat 2014; celebration of 120th anniversary of Da Lat’s establishment and development; the 5th Da Lat Flower Festival.
