The travelers who have been fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19 (in the last 6 months) are allowed to self-isolate at home or place of residence for the first three days instead of centralized quarantine for seven days, the Health Ministry announced Thursday.
Under guidelines that the ministry has issued regarding Covid-19 prevention rules starting January 1, 2022, all travelers (except for the children under 2 years old) must show a negative Covid-19 test result within 72 hours of departure; make a health declaration before entry and upon entry into Vietnam; and installed the PC-Covid application for self-monitoring health. In the period of health self-monitoring, the travelers must strictly comply with the 5K rule (wear masks, make health declarations, disinfect hands regularly, do not go to crowded places, do not gather). If any symptoms of Covid-19 were developed, immediately report to local health authorities for handling according to regulations.
Those who have been fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19 will only need to self-monitor their health for three days, either at home or place of residence (hotels, head office, resorts, etc…). They will be tested by PRC on the third day. If the result is negative, they will have to do follow-up medical self-observation for the next 11 days. If the result returns positive, further actions shall be taken as prescribed.
Those who have not been fully vaccinated will be self-quarantined at home or place of residence for seven days, take the PRC test for Covid-19 on the 3rd and 7th days. If the result returns negative, they will self-monitor the health for 14 days; if the result shows positive, further actions shall be taken as prescribed.
Those under 18, above 65, pregnant women, and those having underlying health conditions can be quarantined with parents or caregivers. The caregivers must be fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19.
Foreign travelers will have to cover expenses for test, quarantine, and Covid-19 treatment. They are recommended to take their own rapid tests on the first day of arrival.
Vietnam is going to resume international flights for nine destinations with high vaccination rates and good pandemic control on January 1.
They are San Francisco or Los Angeles (the U.S.), Singapore, Bangkok (Thailand), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Vientiane (Laos), Beijing/Guangzhou (China), Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), and Taipei (Taiwan).
