In Cat Ba, Dao Cat Dua is often known as Dao Khi (Monkey Island) because this place is the home to about 30-40 monkeys. Monkey Island is managed by 3 forest rangers from Cat Ba national park. Thanks to the presence of monkeys and unspoiled beauty, the island becomes an attractive destination of many visitors in Cat Ba.
To reach Monkey Island, visitors have to take a boat from Beo wharf, 2 km from Cat Ba town. Monkey Island is outstanding with 1 km sandy beach called Cat Dua. This is really a beautiful Lan Ha bay’s beach with calm waves,white sands, blue and clean water. In fact, the island has another smaller beach naming Cat Dua 2 which serve only VIP guests.
Although not many tourism products and services are provided, Monkey Island still welcomes thousands of visitors every year for its perfect location and long white sandy beach.
According to some foreign visitors, scenery in Monkey Island is distinct from others’ which is very suitable for eco-tourism development. The monkeys also play an important role in making the island special. Traveling to Monkey Island, visitors not only partake in beach activities but also have fun with adorable monkeys.
There are some accommodation on the island, that is Monkey Island Resort which consists of eight small bungalows and 20 spacious deluxe bungalows. In Monkey Island Resort, visitors will have great time at bungalows, enjoy fresh air from the sea, swim in private beach, explore the bay in kayak, play beach volley ball or climb the mountain to admire panorama view of Lan Ha bay.
