Ly Son island in Quang Ngai province

Ly Son is an island district of Quang Ngai province that includes 2 islands: Lon island (Re island) consists of An Vinh, An Hai communes; Be island (Bo Bai island) comprises An Binh commune and a small island naming Mu Cu.

To reach to Ly Son, tourists could catch a bus from Da Nand airport to Quang Ngai, then go to Sa Ky port and take a high-speed boat to get the island.

Ly Son is outstanding with many magma-tic layers on the white sands and blue sea. This place has a special geological structure because it was old inactive volcano long time ago. The magma-tic layers, what can be found only in Ly son, were formed after the freezing process of lava.

The locals on Ly Son island mainly earn living by fishing and growing onion and garlic. Ly Son garlic is nation-wide popular for its specific features: steady, savory, spicy. Ly Son is called as the kingdom of garlic. Besides the advantages of weather, the most important thing that makes Ly Son garlic special is the way of preparing soil. On dry ground, the inhabitants spread on layers of coral sands took from the coast and then cover it by a layer of white sand. After every one or two seasons, the old sand layer is removed and replaced by a new one. This is the picture on white sand dunes at garlic gardens in Be island after harvest season.

Be island has an area of over 70 ha with more than 100 households. There is no fresh water and electricity grid on the island. The local people mainly rely on rare source of rain-water. However, from 31 August 2012, the people do not need to worry about this anymore because a water purification plant was established on the island.

Long island was constituted by 5 big mountains which is formerly 5 craters of an old volcano.  Thus, geological structure of these mountains is extremely especial with magma veins shown clearly  on the cliffs. In addition, Ly Son also owns unique landscapes. One of them is spectacular cliff near Hang pagoda.
