Due to spectacular and unspoiled beauty, Lang Biang has become favorite destination of national and international visitors for many years.
Situated 12 km from Da Lat’s center to the north, Lang Biang mountain stands high and beautiful as the roof of Dalat’s city.
Lang Biang was derived from the name a couple in the legend of K’Ho tribe. The story talks about the love of K’lang (the boy) and H’Biang (the girl). They happened to meet each other in the forest and fell in love after K’lang saved Biang’s life from a fierce heard of wolves. Unfortunately, they were not allowed to get married because of the long-standing feud between their tribes. However, they still became husband and wife regardless of severe customs and prejudice. After the marriage, they left their tribes and resided on the mountain’s peak. When H’Biang got sick, K’Lang tried his best to cure her but it was not successful. Therefore, he was supposed to return to the tribe to ask for help.
End of the story, H’Biang was dead because she shielded K’Lang from a poisonous arrow of people in the tribe. Suffering from the death of his wife, K’Lang kept crying and his tear made up a big stream which is now called Dankia (the Golden Stream). After their death, Biang’s father was too repentant of his mistake so he unified the tribes into one called K’ho. Since then, the boys and girls were free to love each other. The high peak at La Ngu Thuong village, where K’Lang and H’Biang died, is named Lang Biang- the name of the couple to memorize their everlasting love.
