Executing direction of Prime Minister about strengthening management of tourism environment, ensuring security and safety for tourists, Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee just requested the city’s Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism to coordinate with the police to finish the mission.
Ho Chi Minh Department of Transportation and People’s Committee of districts in the city continue to boost management of security and environmental sanitation.
Accordingly, People’s Committee of district 1, 3 and 5 will associate with police to install permanent surveillance cameras at some main tourist areas that often happens street crime.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Rum, Director of Ho Chi Minh Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism said that the concern of tourism destination across the country including Ho Chi Minh is the safety for tourists.
“The camera installation at tourist attractions is one of positive solutions ensuring tourists’ safety. Yet, we need to consider the suitable location to set up. After installation, we have to assign someone to supervise and handle the incidents effectively” said Mr. Rum.
He thought that the cameras should be set up at popular tourism destinations such as Pham Ngu Lao street, poor security places or parking lots. Thereby, when something occur, we could handle it timely.
