With the determination of cleaning up tourism environment, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hanoi has just decided to establish Tourist Support Center. The center will officially come into operation from the 1st of August.
The center is situated at the front of No.47 Hang Dau Street. Accordingly, the center will assist Hanoi’s tourism in providing and consulting information regarding tourism from which the tourists will equip themselves necessary and helpful information about the fields that they are in need such as culture, history, traffic, market, attractive destinations in the capital, high standard services for various demands of tourists like eating and drinking, transportation, entertainment, shopping…
Support department will answer the hotline set up by Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism and play a role as the receiver of direct and indirect (via telephone, email, facebook…) complaints from agencies, organizations, units, tourists and residents about problems affecting security, safety and legal rights of the tourists; handle the information and coordinate with functional agencies in solving insensible incidents occurred to the tourists.
The support department including Inspectors, Travel Management Office, Accommodation Management Office, Center of Information and Tourism Promotion will cooperate with other competent agencies of city such as Police, Traffic and Transport, Trade and Industry and… The working time starts from 8 am to 10 pm everyday. Out of this time (10 pm to 8 am the next day), the center will maintain 24-hour on-call availability.
At present, Hanoi has 3,081 accommodation establishments. In the first 6 months, the amount of international tourists to Hanoi reached 1.84.500 arrivals (15% increase over the same period last year), the domestic tourists reached 1.911.000 arrivals (8% increase). These are optimistic figures for tourism industry. However, the capital still exists vendors’ harassment and overcharging threatening tourism environment and affecting image of the city. For this reason, Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism decided to set up the support center to clean up the tourism environment which will officially operate since the 1st August.
