The jam-making occupation in Da Lat was established a very long time ago but it only developed in the late 1950s and the early 1960s when the enterprises started to process strawberries. The ingredients to make jam are not limited in local fruit but taken from other fruits. At present, the jam-making enterprises on Phu Dong Thien Vuong, Mai Anh Dao, Trai Ham Area, Chua Tau streets…provide jam for hundreds of shops in the city and Da Lat market. With more than 30 different kinds of jam, visitors are free to select their favourite flavour.
Da Lat market is the heaven of jam. The eye-catching jams are displayed in abundance everywhere. The whole market is overwhelmed by the colour party. From the green of kiwi jam, honey-like colour of sweet potato jam, to the scarlet of rose jam… They all wake up the taste and excite interest visitors. The price of jam ranges from VND 60.000 to VND 150.000. normally, the jam is put into a box of 100-200 grand sold with the price around VND 20.000-VND 35.000.
