After 4 years of construction, Con Dao Museum in Con Dao district, Ba Ria-Vung Tau finally opened for public since September.
Con Dao Museum was built on area of about 21,000 m2 at No.10 Nguyen Hue street, Con Dao district with total investment of more than VND 65.8 billion. The museum comprises gallery, object and document restoration stores, hall, working area and other subsidiary works.
In particular, the indoor exhibition space occupies 1,700 m2 including a festival hall and a gallery featuring 4 main topics: Con Dao-nature and people; Con Dao-hell on earth; Con Dao-battle and school; today‘s Con Dao.
Besides, the museum has a room displaying artifacts, documents, images on Vo Thi Sau, heroine of the People’s Armed Forces, who dedicated her life to the cause of national liberation.
Con Dao Museum will make a big contribution to the preservation and improvement of Con Dao Historical Relic. According to Tran Van Thong, director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism, the construction of Con Dao Museum is to improve the historical value of the Con Dao prison as well as the island. Besides, it is expected that the museum will raise awareness and patriotism for today’s and following generations.
