3 Soc Trang’s specialties set Vietnamese record

On the 16th November, the Vietnam Record Organization granted record certificate for 3 specialities including an In Cake, a Pia Cake and a plate of green rice produced by Tan Hue Vien Limited Company in An Hiep Commune, Chau Thanh District, Soc Trang.

The in cake weighs 595 kg with 7 layers, 2.2 m in diameter, and 20 cm thick. The pia cake has a diameter of 1.3 m with 22 cm in thickness, 306 kg in weight and the green rice plate has a diameter of 1.2 m with 108 kg.

Earlier, in the afternoon of the 15 November, the Tan Hue Vien Limited Company produced the Pia Cake after 150 minutes of baking. The process to make Pia Cake required tens of workers with 160 kg mung bean, 60 kg sugar, 20 kg flashes of durian, 13 kg black sesame and 6 kg pineapple leaves.

The In Cake was made from 300 kg mung beans, 180 kg flour, 50 kg fleshes of durian with black sesame, sugar and pineapple leaves.

According to Mr Thai Tuan, Director of Tan Hue Vien Company, these are 3 specialities of Soc Trang province and fundamental food in Ok Om Bok Festival of Khmer people. Setting Vietnamese record will be an opportunity to advertise traditional local cakes and introduce delicious specialities to domestic and foreign visitors during the Boat Racing Festival in Soc Trang.

The dishes were placed on a car to parade around Soc Trang city and then displayed at boat racing stage at the Ward 8 to introduce to visitors before they were cut for visitors to enjoy.

Mr Tuan also said that there were about 5.000 portions of In Cake, Pia Cake and Green Rice from the 3 record dishes.
