Bia Hoi means simply “fresh beer”. It is a type of draft beer which is popular and available throughout Vietnam. It is mostly to be found in small bars and on street corners. And it’s cheap, just around 8,000 Dong . Bia Hơi is not merely a drink, it has become a whole culture and way of life. With foreigners – both visitors and residents, have been seduced by Bia Hơi culture.
In Hanoi, there are a lot of fresh beer in streets or in the Old Quarter, which is a popular place for the Western backpackers. Sitting on the pavement on a tiny plastic chair watching scene beauty and a few friends to chat, even guts up after trying smoke “Thuốc lào” (rustic tobacco pipe) – it’s all a wonderful entertainment.
