Fansipan, the roof of Indochina

Being dubbed as the roof of Indochina, Fansipan peak is even more famous for its scenic landscape.

Situated in spectacular Hoang Lien Son range, Fansipan is the highest mountain in Vietnam. It is also the highest mountain of 3 countries of Indochina. That is the reason why it is called “the roof of  Indochina”.

In local language, Fansipan is called “Hua Xi Pan” that means “the tottery huge rock”. At 3,143 m high, Fansipan is located in Lao Cai province and 9 km far from Sapa town to the southwest, the bordering of Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces, northwest Vietnam.

Being located in Hoang Lien (recognised as Asean vestige garden), Fansipan owns a very rich and abundant eco-system, particularly flora.

According to scientists’s assessment, Fansipan mountain was constituted more than 100 million years ago. There are about 1,680 floral varieties and 679 species of 7 groups, some species are listed in rare groups.

Fansipan has been always a favorite attraction of mountain climbers, adventurers and nature lovers. The most appropriate time for climbing is from this September to March of following year. However, Fansipan is the most beautiful in the late February. It is time for many kinds of flowers to start bloom.
