From 30th October to 3rd November 2013, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai will coordinate with the Sa Pa People’s Committee to organize 100th anniversary of Sa Pa Tourism (1903 – 2013) at the stadium of Sa Pa town’s centre.
This event has a great significance to enhance awareness, the responsibility of preserving national identity, landscapes, contributing to the promotion of unique tourism products of Sa Pa, motivating the development of local economy-culture-society, and propagating, advertising, exploiting tourism potential at the same time to attract tourists to Lao Cai and Sa Pa in the coming years.
Many excellent cultural activities will be taken place in the event such as the exhibition “Sa Pa-itinerary to become national tourism urban” at Tourism Information Center Show Room of Lao Cai province. The exhibition will display pictures, models, planning…to reflect development achievement of economy, society, the culture of ethnic groups in Sa Pa in different periods; international workshop “Preserving the cultural heritage of ethnic minorities associated with the sustainable development of tourism products in globalization context”; firework performance to celebrate 110 years of Sa Pa tourism and reappear some traditional folk activities of ethnic minorities in the program ” Love night ” in the tennis court and Xuan Vien garden in Sapa; “Fansipan discovery 2013” tourism program; groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of Fansipan tourist complex; Sa Pa Street Festival; “Exploring the cultural heritage of ethnic groups in Sa Pa” program; friendly tennis match among clubs in the province and neighbouring provinces…
On this occasion, a ceremony to declare recognition of Sa Pa’s terraced fields as the national landscape of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will also be formally held at the 8 pm, 2nd November.
100th anniversary of Sa Pa Tourism is regarded as a prominent event of Sa Pa tourism in 2013 and expected to draw a large number of domestic and international tourists to Sa Pa-Lao Cai.
